.....the hearing in Z's right ear is deteriorating really fast. As you can see at the 1K mark the last time we went in, it was sitting at 85. It is now at 105 which means Z is losing another frequency. According to his audiologist she feels Z should qualify for a cochlear in that ear because what hearing he has left is pretty much useless. Problem is it's not likely Dr. Wanna (otolaryngologist) would agree.
Superficial Siderosis & Whip Lash in an 11 Year Old Boy
Zachary is the only known documented child case with Superficial Siderosis and was diagnosed at the age of 9. We've created this blog in hopes of finding more information, and those who suffer with this disorder so that we can further educate ourselves, our son and others.

Our Appreciation .....
Beltone, for giving Zachary a free pair of very nice hearing aids. Zachary now has total control of the sounds that enter into his ears and an FM System that is built right in for him to use while in school. And now the funds raised can be set aside for the Cochlear Implant that will be needed for Zachary’s right ear.

An Adjustment
Zachary was having a little trouble with the fitting of the ear molds and Beltone graciously adjusted it for him. Just over the past few months I've seen the Lord's hand in our lives, He is ever mindful!!

Another Frequency Gone ...sniff
Took Z to the Audiologist yesterday, she said he is getting close to meeting the requirements for a cochlear implant in his right ear. He has lost yet another frequency. The first test was done on the 2nd of December and the other just yesterday.
