Zachary is the only known documented child case with Superficial Siderosis and was diagnosed at the age of 9. We've created this blog in hopes of finding more information, and those who suffer with this disorder so that we can further educate ourselves, our son and others.

Zachary did some PT on an exercise trampoline and walked a block or so to his friends house to spend the night. Intense pain began at around 10:00 pm. His friends' mom called us and brought Z home, we gave Zachary half of one of his prescription pills (Diazepam) after putting the TENS unit on, the ice pack on his back and upper legs and we also rubbed his leg with Anti-flamme cream.
When we asked Zachary what his pain level was between 1 and 10, with 10 being excruciating, he said it was at a 10. We wanted to see if half of one of the Diazepam pills would help alleviate the pain, we waited half an hour before giving him the second half which was around 11:00 p.m. He was still experiencing pain but not intense. It is now 11:41 and Z says the pain is at a 5

Oh Michelle! Poor Zachary!! I know he's had a very hard time, but to hear him cry in pain...I can only imagine how extremely difficult this is for you too! We will continue to pray for him, your family and his doctors.
